Growing up on a remote farm, surrounded by fruit trees and tractors, was a great environment to observe nature and develop some of my personal/artistic quirks. Within the rows of fruit trees, I had an elaborate world built within my imagination. Sometimes that meant building floor plans out of weeds, sticks and dirt for my Barbie doll in the orchard, riding my bicycle around our acreage singing and composing little songs, making paper-dolls from scratch, and endlessly drawing pictures of my dog. Looking back, doing such solitary activities as a child, was excellent training for becoming an artist and a painter. I learned to observe the nature of things around me. This thoughtful practice is a key factor in my art making process. My art is all about bringing my inner world out into the physical world.
